The godfather of radical fashion, Thierry Mugler, breathed his last this week but his legacy is still very much a part of popular culture. Mugler’s high-powered silhouettes are some of the most coveted pieces in the fashion circuit, but one of his most remarkable creations was his fragrance, Angel. The scent is perhaps the most polarising perfume of this century and has been written about extensively in the early nineties when it first came out.

The overly sweet combination of bergamot, tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel and patchouli was considered a bit too dramatic in the noughties. But the candy floss scent was quite futuristic and soon emerged as one of the most iconic scents owing to its heady balance and refillable bottle (Mugler thought the star-shaped bottle was too pretty to be discarded). So, if you’re looking for a party scent this season, you know where to look.
