‘The Stranger in the Lifeboat’ by Mitch Albom
A compelling novel that will make you question your strongest beliefs

The bestselling author of Tuesdays with Morrie returns with another poignant tale that explores notions of faith and hope.
Following a ship explosion, 10 survivors on a raft struggle to sustain themselves on limited food and water as they try to figure out a way to stay alive. Three days in, they spot a man floating nearby and decide to pull him on board. The stranger seems like just another human being — probably a fellow survivor. They, along with the reader, are caught completely off guard when the man introduces himself as “the Lord”.
The story is narrated by a character named Benji, whose notebook is discovered when an empty life raft washes up at the shore. It is from the pages of this notebook that the chief inspector must piece together what really happened on the raft.
Published by HarperCollins, The Stranger in the Lifeboat is an evocative tale that keeps readers hooked till the last page — Why was the raft empty? What happened to the survivors? And finally, was that man really God?
