Rooftops of Tehran is at its core, a Bildungsroman, but calling the novel just that would be doing injustice to it. The pages of this book unfold a panorama of tiny rooftops overlooking an alley in Iran’s capital city. This alley is where Pasha, Ahmed, Faheemeh and Zari spend a summer of love, laughter and friendship until the events of one fateful night - the consequences of which change their lives forever and force them to confront the reality of growing up in a country in turmoil.
