Inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Rick Riordan has woven a tale with a new protagonist, Ana Dakkar, who goes on an unexpected journey with her friends. Published by Puffin, the book is set around the mysteries of Harding-Pencroft Academy and their rival, Land Institute. Ana and her classmates witness a tragedy that puts them to the test. With inspiration from Captain Nemo, the story is spun in a way which leads Ana to make a startling discovery about her lineage.
Riordan wrote on his website, “I am so excited for this book for a number of reasons. You guys have been asking me for a long time: “When will you do a book that is exclusively focused on a female protagonist?” This is that book!”
Like the Percy Jackson series, this book too has a number of unexpected plot twists that will keep all readers engaged till the end.
