Wondering what to do this Saturday night? Book a date with the ghosts! Colonial Ghost Walk curated by Anthony Khatchaturian takes you on a tour of more than 12 historic and haunted places, including Town Hall, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation building, Calcutta High Court, GPO, St. John's Church and Statesman House.
The 4.5km walk starts at 11.30pm on December 10. The starting point is the main entrance of New Market on Lindsay Street and the end point is Writers’ Buildings.
When Khatchaturian returned to Kolkata from London, in 2013, after a decade of working at the Scotland Yard, he wanted to do something about the history of the city. He was quick to notice that Kolkata was a very well-lit city. “Despite having many prominent walks, most people ignored night walks in Kolkata. Back in London I had seen these haunted place walks were very popular and I thought of starting a similar thing here,” he said.
If you want to experience the deserted streets of Kolkata on a winter night, sign up on the Facebook page titled Anthony’s Kolkata Heritage Tour. The payment of Rs 1000 per head can be made on spot on December 10 in cash, UPI or cheque.
