The city continued to be bright and pleasant during the day and cold in the night but the end of chill is near, said Met officials.

On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 26.5 and 14.1 degrees. Both were a couple of notches below what was usual for mid-February.

The chill was brought by winds from the north. The past couple of days have been windy, even during daytime.

“The day temperature was below normal because of strong winds,” said a Met official.

The maximum and minimum temperature both went up from Sunday but the hint of chill persisted because of cold winds.

The mercury is set to rise from Wednesday as the northwesterly winds lose steam, according to the forecast.

“The rise is going to be by a degree in the first 24 hours and by another couple of degrees in the next 48 hours. By Thursday, the city is likely to see a nearly four-degree rise in the Celsius. But the sky is likely to be bright and sunny. The day will feel a little warmer but the night will be pleasant,” said the Met official.
