5/6 Programmes were held at  Sri Sri Maayer Bari at Bagbazar on Tuesday where Ma Sarada had arrived  on May 23, 1909 and lived there till her demise on July 28, 1920. The holy place attracts several devotees from across the country on a daily basis. Kedarchandra Das, a local straw merchant, had donated the land at Bagbazar’s Gopal Neogi Lane to Belur Math on July 18, 1906. Swami Saradananda began construction with only Rs 2,700 as opening cash balance and a loan of Rs 5,700 at the end of 1907. Swami Saradananda (1865-1927) was a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna and was the general secretary of Ramakrishna Math and the Mission for nearly 30 years (till the end of his life). The house for Ma Sarada was completed by 1908. The total cost was around Rs 11,000

6/6 At a glittering function attended by several dignitaries, the Biography of Din Dayal Gupta, chairman emeritus, Dollar Industries Limited, was launched. The book, published by Rupa Publications, was launched by Acharya Devrat, Governor of Gujarat in the presence of Suresh Chandra, president, Sarvadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha & Swami Pranvanand, dean of Gurkul, Delhi Gautam Nagar. Pradeep Gooptu, veteran journalist and author, who has written the book, moderated the talk show, which highlighted the journey of one of the doyens of the hosiery industry of the country
