A fire broke out at an office of the West Bengal government on Ganesh Chandra Avenue in the city’s central business district on Thursday and efforts are on to douse it, an official said.
The blaze on the fifth floor of the building that houses a department of the state government’s animal resources development department was reported around 10am, he said. “None was injured in the fire as the office staff were yet to arrive. We are trying to douse it as quickly as possible,” he said.
Fire tenders and fire services personnel in front of the building at 45 Ganesh Chandra Avenue, which houses offices of the transport and the animal resources departments.
