Roots on Chowringee Road organised their first bar takeover on May 20. The star of the night was Ajay Nayyar, brand ambassador of Singleton and Malts behind the bar who was there to help the crowd get going with the amazing cocktails that he made.
“Calcutta is still not into the cocktail culture yet, so we wanted this event to showcase global trends and whatever happening across India in cities like Bombay, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore with respect to bar and cocktails. Ajay is a brand ambassador who handles single malt portfolio of Diageo and majorly Singleton and many cannot imagine having a malt in a cocktail so we wanted to break that myth. So via these bar takeovers we want to educate people about cocktails, what’s trending and also ensure they enjoy their drink. Roots is a place that has large guests who are up to experiment and try hence we had our session here with Ajay,” said Rinki Mazumder, key accounts manager luxury Kolkata, Diageo.
