Halloween is a worldwide phenomenon and the city celebrates it in its own way, but not everyone might be in the mood for a party. But, they really like the creeps! They might not dress up for a costume show, but rather sit in a scary eating joint.

Dine in a unique horror-themed atmosphere for Halloween as this cafe in Jadavpur. You are greeted by eerie bloody handprints as you enter, and the stairs are adorned with creepers on the railings. Visitors hear cries for help and find themselves in a graveyard with an upside-down hanging body. The atmosphere is filled with ghoulish sounds, evil laughter, and dim red, blue, and yellow lights, creating an immersive experience.

The 25-seater cafe became a trending spot on social media (when they opened), attracting thrill-seekers. Visitors can also expect a dedicated selfie zone with Annabelle. The menu provides a number of Chinese dishes and sandwiches where the focus is on serving simple, fresh food without compromising on quality.

This themed restaurant, inspired by Satyajit Ray’s film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, combines the best of Ray’s iconography with Bengali flavours. Since its inception in 2004 on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, this restaurant has become a beloved haunt for those who appreciate Ray’s legacy and the nostalgia associated with his films. The restaurant started with one outlet in Jadavpur and has since expanded to five locations across Bengal, including Salt Lake, Chandannagar, Kalyani, and Siliguri, making it accessible to a broad audience.

Their menu boasts a range of mouthwatering dishes, from the famous Ilish Bhapa to flavorful mutton options, traditional Chingri Malai Curry, and a variety of vegetarian offerings. So, if you’re looking for a milder Halloween adventure with a Bengali twist, this restaurant is the place to be, offering nostalgia and ghosts, and delicious Bengali food.

With a name like Bhookhi Aatma and ghost for a mascot, this one had to be on the list. A little afraid to step out because some of our My Kolkata stories have been a little eerie? Sit back, create your own Halloween vibe at home and order in from this cloud kitchen, which delivers till 12.30am!

All the night owls, if you’ve got the munchies on Halloween night, check out their multi-cuisine menu, which has items like Maa Ki Momos, Bao Ji Ka Pasand and Ramen Di Katori. Opened on August 11, 2022, the kitchen has been spooking away late-night hunger pangs ever since. Their aim is to bring cheap, good quality and big quantities of food to your doorstep, at late hours. “One of our best sellers is momos. We normally don’t think of doing anything for Halloween but now we might just start,” said Zeeshan Islam, director, Bhookhi Aatma. So, if you have plans for a horror movie marathon, these are the guys to go to!
