There are few things as good as having a fun day out with your kids. Loud laughter, strange complaints, unfiltered curiosity — a day with the kids can be as rewarding as it is challenging. This Children’s Day, if you’re looking for somewhere to take the kids, Kolkata has some fun events planned for the day.

Be a star at Nicco Park

It’s always a fun ride at Nicco Park — literally. But to enjoy all of them at a discount? Double deal! The amusement park in Bidhannagar is hosting their Little Stars Fest, where you can have double the fun at a fraction of the cost. As part of a special Children’s Day treat, they have four unique packages — Entry Package, Parks’ Package, Entry + Meal and Parks’ Package + Meal — that cover entry, meals and access to a bunch of rides all for combined discounted rates. There is also a ‘buy one get one’ offer, where you can get two packages for the price of one.

The Entry package includes the entry of two people along with tickets for 13 specific rides or attractions. The Parks’ Package includes access to entry and all rides in the main park and the Wet-O-Wild water park, while the Entry + Meal and Parks’ Package + Meal offer the same but with a combo meal and a soft drink.

Fun and magic at The Backyard

The Backyard is transforming into the funnest backyard party for Children’s Day! The epicurean bistro in Topsia is hosting a special day just for the tiny tots and they have gone all out. The cafe, which has a large play area with a tree house, splash pad, pet lawn and more, is always a great option to hang out with the kids and this special event they will have a host of new things for your tots and kids to try at no additional cost. The event will include a ball pool, a tattoo artist, a bouncing castle, and a magic show. So while you grab a bite and a sip, your kids can have a splendid time with these activities.

Be a budding artist

If your kids like to play with colour and have a knack for art, check out the All India Drawing Competition. The competition, organised by RJ14 Sports, is an online contest with four categories for entries, divided by age — 3-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years and 13-16 years.

Once you have registered and booked your spot, participants can send in entries under a number of topics, ranging from simple ‘Colouring’ (includes birds, animals, rainbows, etc) and Natural Scenery and My Garden/ House to those with a social message like Plastic Awareness, Environmental Awareness, Freedom Fighter and more. The contest has been on for a couple of months, but entries close on November 14. Prizes will be given to the three top winners in each category. So get those colour pencils out!

Indulge your bookworm at Oxford Bookstore

Geek out at BITM

A day out for the kids can be fun and educational! Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, or BITM as it is popularly known, is hosting a Children’s Day event at their venue, packed with some fun activities. It all begins with a lesson on social and environmental aspects with a release of balloons and a nature study in the museum’s green campus. There will also be a quiz, a street drama by children, and screenings of official selections from Goethe-Institut Science Film Festival 2023, along with a special science show.
