Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday visited the Mohun Bagan tent and felicitated the team for winning the Indian Super League (ISL). ATK Mohun Bagan won the ISL final after defeating Bengaluru FC 4-3 on penalties and lifted their maiden title on Saturday in Goa

The chief minister announced Rs 50 lakh as a financial grant for the club, felicitating the players with bouquets and sweets.

State Sports Minister Aroop Biswas and club president Swapan Sadhan Bose were also present at the programme. She also flung autographed footballs at club supporters.

Hundreds of green-maroon fans turned up at the club’s premises on Monday. On Sunday, Kolkata airport was abuzz with celebrations as the team returned home from Goa, where the final was played. Soon after the win, the franchise's owner Sanjeev Goenka announced that the ATK Mohun Bagan (ATK MB) will be rechristened as Mohun Bagan Super Giants from the next season. Mohun Bagan entered the ISL as ATK Mohun Bagan after a merger with ATK in the 2020-21 season
