Four youths were injured in a clash among themselves over a dispute related to bursting of crackers at Subhas Colony in Ulidih, Jamshedpur, on Tuesday morning.

Sukhdev Patro (22) and Dhuna Yadav (24), who sustained head injuries, have been admitted to MGM Medical College and Hospital whereas their brothers, Suraj Patro (19) and Kanhaiya Yadav (26), were released after first aid.

All are residents of Subhas Colony, a densely populated area in Mango.

According to sources, Suraj was bursting crackers in front of his house around 10am when his immediate neighbour Dhuna objected.

But Suraj refused to listen to the older youth.

Angry, Dhuna slapped him. When Suraj's elder brother Sukhdev saw this, he caught hold of Dhuna and <>started thrashing Dhuna.

The next moment, Dhuna's brother Kanhaiya came to his rescue and hit Sukhdev with an iron rod on his head.

As Sukhdev was writhing in pain, Kanhaiya and Dhuna continued to assault him.

Suraj, seeing his brother being overpowered by the duo, snatched the iron rod from Kanhaiya's hand and struck on Dhuna's head, injuring him grievously.

The fight would have turned uglier had not local BJP leader Sanjay Singh, who was passing through the area, intervened. Singh, the vice-president of BJP's Mango Mandal, stopped the four from fighting and rushed them to MGM Medical College and Hospital. "It was a minor issue that snowballed into a clash between neighbours," said Ulidih officer-in-charge Kamlesh Paswan.
