Jamshedpur, April 25: The mutilated body of Gudda alias Asif Raza Khan was found at Domohani in Sonari this morning.
The abduction and murder case was cracked after two of the key suspects, Md Sarfaraj and Kallu Ghosh, were arrested. Following leads by the duo, the police traced the bullet-riddled body from the bed of the rivers.
Sources said that Gudda had old enmity with the Ghosh brothers due to business rivalry. As Buchhu Ghosh was killed in March, Gudda had apparently celebrated the murder in Dhatkidih. Kallu, who has an influence in Harizan Bustee, wanted to teach Gudda a lesson.
According to sources, the assailants took Gudda to a public latrine at Dhatkidih Harizan Bustee where they shot him dead on the might of April 22. Soon after the murder, the body was stuffed into a sack at the behest of Kallu and the sack was carried in an Ambassador towards the rivers-meet. The killers had then dropped the sack in the river.
Inspector Umesh Prasad Singh of Bistupur police station said the mystery behind the incident unfolded after Kallu spilled the beans. “We had been interrogating Sarfaraj since his arrest on Wednesday, but he initially did not give any clue. We picked up Kallu last night and started interrogating him,” he said.
According to the police, Sarfaraz, who would drive Kallu’s Bolero, visited Gudda’s house around midnight on April 22 for taking him along. “As Sarfaraz was known to Gudda, the latter did not suspect any foul play, and thus seated in the car. Soon afterward, Khan was brought to the Harizan Bustee, where he was shot dead,” said one of the police officers.
According to Pervez Khan, the uncle of the victim, they were sure about Gudda’s abduction and suspected murder as many of those reside there had watched Sarfaraz while luring Gudda inside his Bolero and departed.
In total, five persons were arrested with two pistols used in the murder being recovered too. Those arrested were identified as Kallu Ghosh, Santosh Mukhi, Ganesh Mukhi and Bishnu Mukhi, all residents of Harizan Bustee, Dhatkidih, and Md Sarfaraj, a resident of Rajak Colony, Dhatkidih.
A post-mortem was conducted in the afternoon. Three pellets were recovered from Gudda’s body.
