The online registration for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT 2023) will start on August 10 and continue till November 30, XLRI Jamshedpur announced on Monday.

XLRI, which was ranked eighth among B-schools in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the central government earlier this year, in a communique released on Monday afternoon, announced that the online registration will commence on August 10 and can be filled in the website xatonline.in with a registration fee of Rs 2,000. The examination will be held on January 8, 2023.

“Jamshedpur-based XLRI, which has been conducting XAT — the second largest management entrance exam to provide admission to MBA and post-graduate management courses for the last seven decades on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI) — would like the aspirants to check the dates and other criteria online,” said the institute spokesperson.

“The XAT exam will be conducted in over 80 cities across India. The scores of the XAT will be valid for admissions at XLRI Jamshedpur and other Xavier Associate Management Institutes. Apart from these, the scores are accepted by over 160 premium B-schools across the country,” added the spokesperson.

The release states that with the latest technology and testing patterns, the XAT exam provides a holistic assessment of prospective business management candidates.

“It’s critical to assess the decision-making of the candidates and this sets XAT (xatonline.in) apart from any other aptitude test. Candidates who have completed three years of bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by a university or Deemed University, are eligible to apply. Those completing their final examination by June 10 next year may also apply,” the release states.

The XAT admit card can be downloaded from December 20 onwards. The programmes offered by XLRI include business management (BM), human resource management (HRM), general management programme (GMP), fellow programme in management (FPM) and XLRI-Rutgers Double Masters Programme.

“The XAT exams will be almost like the previous years with tests on verbal ability; logical reasoning, decision making, quantitative aptitude; data interpretation and general knowledge. There will be approximately 22-30 questions in each section and a total number of questions will not exceed 100-105 including general knowledge. General knowledge will not be used to determine the cut-off and will be used only during the interview stage,” the spokesperson informed.

Some top B-schools in India such as Loyola Institute of Business Management, Chennai, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, IMT Ghaziabad, GIM Goa, Sri Balaji University, TAPMI Manipal, XIMB Bhubaneswar and FORE School of Management, New Delhi use XAT scores for admission.
