A 32-year-old mother of two, who was seeing a psychiatrist, was found dead early on Thursday, hanging from a ceiling fan of her home on Road No. 21 at Kadma Farm Area.

According to police, Krishna Nayak, wife of Sukumar Nayak, had dinner on Wednesday night and went to bed with the children, a seven-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy.

But, around 6am on Thursday morning, when husband Sukumar found one of the rooms of the three-room house bolted from inside, he knocked on the door. Since there was no response, he broke it open to find her hanging from the fan.

The police are treating it as a case of suicide. They have sent the body to MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.

Officer-in-charge of Kadma police station Ras Behari Lal said that preliminary investigations revealed the woman was suffering from a mental ailment.

"The woman was suffering and had apparently turned suicidal. Her husband had also engaged a psychiatrist to treat her," he told The Telegraph.

Sukumar, who is a Tata Steel employee and works as a cook at GT Hostel in Kadma, was in a state of shock.

"I had never imagined that she would end her life like this. Last night (Wednesday) she had dinner as usual and went to bed with the children, but then...," the husband broke down.
