Jamshedpur, March 4: House No. 56 at ECC Flat in Kadma will go to bed with a special prayer tonight. A prayer for their ?Chhotu? who is so close to making it big.

Amit Sana, one of the two finalists of the Indian Idol, a national-level talent contest organised by Sony Television, will have the city cheering for him as he takes on Abhijeet Sawant in the mega final tomorrow in Mumbai.

Though born and brought up in Bhillai, it was in Jamshedpur that the 21-year-old nurtured his dreams and settled here in 2003. He now lives with his maternal uncle and his family at Kadma. ?We are all waiting for the moment when our Amit will clinch the title of Indian Idol,? said V.M. Prasad, his uncle. Surpassing 30,000 contestants, Amit is just one step away from the title amount of Rs one crore.

Prasad said Amit settled in the steel city to pursue his higher studies. A final year B.Sc (in IT) student at Informatics, an IT training institute, Amit is passionate about singing. He started taking lessons in classical music at a tender age of 4. ?He has surprised everyone with his performance. I still remember the day he went to give his audition for Indian Idol at Calcutta. Some of the family members were sceptical, but I had faith in him and today I am proud of him,? said Prasad, a Tata Steel employee. He said Amit is very close to his maternal grandmother, V. Appala Narasamma, and considers her his good luck charm. She has left for Mumbai to be at the finals. Amit?s parents S.S. Rao and S. Rajeshwari, too, have joined him.

Speaking to The Telegraph from Mumbai, Amit said: ?I can feel the heat but I am confident of clinching the title.?

?I vividly remember the days spent in Jamshedpur along with friends. Picnic spots at Dalma still excite me and I wish I could return to the city to be with my friends,? Amit said.

He said the city is close to his heart and that is the reason he decided to settle here. ?I want to win the title and come to my city to thank one and all,? he added. ?My dream is to organise a charity show in the city where I will perform in front of thousands of people,? he added. The show will be screened on Sony Television from 8 pm.
