Ranchi, April 26: Over 114 lucky men and women have become neighbours of M.S. Dhoni, Jharkhand’s star son and skipper of IPL winner Chennai Super Kings.
The Jharkhand State Housing Board today concluded its lottery at Haj House in Kadru, allotting 339 flats and 62 plots in Harmu, Argora and Bariatu.
Dhoni has a three-storeyed house in Harmu. It sprawls over 5,000sqft, a plot gifted by the state government and worth Rs 5 crore.
Of the 114, 63 got plots, ranging between 1,500sqft and 3,075sqft, while the rest got flats ranging between 156sqft and 1,448sqft. The plots and flats are worth between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 21.5 lakh.
Executive engineer of the board Vikash Kumar Ojha said advertisement for the 339 flats and 63 plots was published on February 25 and applications accepted till April 12. Around 2,250 people participated in the lottery.
Board sources said 129 flats and 63 plots were allotted in Harmu, 120 flats in Argora and 90 in Bariatu. While Argora is a kilometre from Harmu, Bariatu is 8km from Dhoni’s new residence.
Pradip Raj, an architect from Dhurwa who was allotted a 2,250sqft plot worth Rs 5.5 lakh in Harmu, said it was a pleasant surprise to be Dhoni’s neighbour. “I will now have my dream house like Mahi,” he said.
Dhoni’s Harmu home is complete with a trophy gallery, besides a swimming pool, a gymnasium and spacious bedrooms. He performed his griha pravesh rituals in November last year.
