‘CANVASING’ FOR PROGRESS
Around 700 children from government and private cradles across the capital took part in a painting competition on the theme Progressive Jharkhand 2025, organised by the state art and culture department, in association with Kalakriti School of Art. The two-hour contest saw participation in three categories - Group A (Classes I-IV), Group B (Classes V-VII) and Group C (Classes VIII-X).
Aryan Singh, an eighth grader of DAV Public School, Hehal, said he wanted basic amenities for all residents by 2025. “We should also boast CNG vehicles and solar streetlights for a green Jharkhand.”
Harshita, also an eighth grader but from JVM-Shyamali, underscored that the year 2025 should see Jharkhand in new light. “The title of my drawing is Momentum Jharkhand. There are flyovers and e-hospitals.”
Winners of the contest will be announced on Tuesday, when chief minister Raghubar Das will himself
felicitate them.

Our forefathers sacrificed their lives for Jharkhand. But, the way the state government is acting against the interests of tribals and the downtrodden is an ominous sign. The state government headed by the BJP is repeatedly tampering with traditional rights of people. As the state turns 16 tomorrow, I pray and wish this trend reverses
