Hazaribagh, Aug.13: Nearly 70 villagers from Katkamsandi today landed here and attacked the Pugmil business premises of self-styled godman Suresh Bhandara.

Bhandara, known for his supernatural powers, was accused of sacrificing a 10-year-old boy, Suman Kumar Prajapati, last week of June.

The villagers discovered Suman’s body on June 25.

Then, the villagers went on the rampage demanding the arrest of Bhandara, who went underground.

Chamani Devi and Rekha, relatives of Bhandara, present on his business premises, were attacked by the mob. Nephews of Bhandara, Mahendra and Rajendra Prajapati, were also beaten up mercilessly. Rekha, however, managed to escape from their clutches. Later, Rekha complained to the officials and urged them to rescue her.

CPI MP Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Mehta has openly supported the villagers in the matter. He accused Bhandara of threatening the witnesses standing against him through his relatives — Ajeet and Sujeet Kumar — employed with Border Security Force.

Bhandara uses the prefix “doctor” with his name.

He had, earlier, worked as an attendant to a local doctor. He started practice in a district village proclaiming himself as a man with supernatural powers. People visited him from districts of Jharkhand and Bihar.
