If civil service is your goal, Ranchi is ready to groom you.
Chanakya IAS Academy, one of the pioneers in UPSC coaching that has spawned nearly 3,000 IAS and IPS officers over two decades, will open its first centre in the capital city on Thursday.
Hazaribagh resident A.K. Mishra, who founded the academy in New Delhi some 23 years ago, said the Ranchi centre would be their twelfth cradle in the country.
"It will be launched at Sunrise Forum Bhavan in Burdwan Compound in the heart of the city. The centre will offer every facility that is available at other places. A team of teachers from Delhi will guide the IAS aspirants," Mishra, an alumnus of St Columba's College in Hazaribagh now known as success guru among students, said during the news meet at a city hotel on Wednesday.
Later, Mishra told The Telegraph that parental pressure to achieve an elevated goal was primitive and must stop to help children mature as global citizens.
"When students leave school and enter college, they feel somewhat liberated. Parents, instead of trying to tie them down with their own academic expectations, must groom them into decision-makers. This way they will feel more in charge of their lives and meet challenges better. It is all about re-programming a young mind," the academic pioneer said.
He added that once the Ranchi centre became operational, he would pay at least six annual visits to the city and organise his 'art of success' programmes free of cost.
