Two killed in illegal mining in Nirsa

Two persons were killed during illegal mining in Kapasara colliery area of Nirsa Block of Dhanbad this morning. The incident during which one person was also seriously injured took place due to roof collapse at the illegal mining site.

Vishal Bauri, a resident of Kamardih and another unidentified person were killed. Nitai Bauri, another resident of Kamardih area of Nirsa who was seriously injured in the incident has been admitted to a private hospital.

Family members of the deceased persons who reached the site fled along with the dead bodies , fearing police action on the charges of illegal mining.

Eyewitnesses said that the incident took place at around 7 am this morning when dozens of people were engaged in illegal mining at the abandoned mining site. Co-workers who launched the rescue work at the site after the incident along with a large number of local villagers cleared the debris to bring out the dead bodies and rushed the injured person to a private hospital.

Local police however refused to confirm the mishap, “As no dead body has been found and no complaint has been lodged so we can’t confirm the incident.”

Notably, on February 1, another mines mishap took place at Gopinathpur colliery of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) at Nirsa during which altogether five persons were killed.

On February 8 two persons were killed in Mahuda area of Dhanbad during illegal mining in which two other persons were also injured.
