Ranchi, Sept. 9: The state government would be trying to boost Jharkhand’s industrial growth through two fairs, one to be held in the national capital and another in the state capital.
The New Delhi fair or the India International Trade Fair (IITF) would be held at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, while Jharkhand’s Udyog Mela would be held at the Morabadi grounds.
IITF is scheduled to start from November 14 and would continue till 27, while Udyog Mela is slated between November 15 and 25.
State industry department special secretary Dhirendra Kumar said the government has already booked a kiosk space for the New Delhi fair, while a major part of the Morhabadi grounds would be devoted to Jharkhand in the Udyog Mela.
Officials said that the kiosk space that has been devoted to the state in the New Delhi fair measures around 1400-sq-m.
So far, the officials expressed their satisfaction over the alloted space in the hall number seven of the Pragati Maidan fair.
“Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is the nodal agency for the IITF, while Jharkhand small industries association (JSIA) would manage matters for the Ranchi fair,” said Kumar.
This year’s theme for the Delhi fair is “infrastructure and women’s empowerment”, while the state authorities are yet to decide the theme for the Ranchi fair.
Soren would be heading an organising committee that has been formed for the purpose of making both the industry fairs a success.
Industry minister Sudhir Mahto would act as chairman of the committee.
The director of industry, M.P. Sinha, would directly monitor the IITF and special secretary Kumar would monitor the state fair.
Names of industrial houses and organisations that may participate in the events are yet to be finalised, but industry department sources have suggested that prospective investors in Jharkhand, such as ArcelorMittal, JSW Steel Limited, JSPL and Tata Steel are more likely to participate.
Considering chief minister Shibu Soren’s interest in promoting “integrated farming” model in the state, industry department officials feel they need to not only invite mining, industry groups but also companies engaged in the field of agriculture, more particularly, those involved in the integrated farming sector.
A meeting between the CII authorities and the state government representatives would take place on September 14, at New Delhi where by things regarding Delhi fair would be discussed and finalised.
