
Jamshedpur, July 15: Odisha's Amrutjay Mohanty bagged a triple crown at the All India National Junior Ranking Tennis Tournament, which concluded at Beldih Club and United Club today.
Top seed in the under-14 boys singles, Amrutjay took an hour and 15 minutes to dismiss Deep Munim of Madhya Pradesh in straight sets 7-5,6-0.
Later in the day, Amrutjay, the third seed in the under-16 boys singles category, recovered from 1-4 down in the opening set against fourth seeded Amit Routh of Bengal to win the title by a close 7-6,7-5.
On Friday evening, Amrutjay paired up with Bengal's Asish Sinha to also win the under-16 boys doubles title. The pair beat their Bengal opponents, Keshav Goel and Amit Routh, 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 to pocket the title.
In the girls under-14 singles, third 3rd seeded Ishita Jadhav of Madhya Pradesh emerged champion, while the under-16 girls singles title was claimed by fifth seeded Shreya Chakraborty of Bengal.
Ishita drubbed fourth seeded Aneesha Mukherjee of Bengal 6-1, 6-2, while Shreya trounced Ishita Jadhav of Madhya Pradesh 6-4, 6-2.
In the under-16 girls doubles tie, the pair of Bengal's Shreya Chakraborty and Aneesha Mukherjee beat citymates Shireen Ahamed and Shimreen Ahamed 6-2, 6-4 to bag the title.
The 9-day event was organised by Beldih Club under the auspices of All India Tennis Federation (AIFF) and Jharkhand Tennis Association.
As many as 400 players from various cities took part in the tournament, but only 32 (in each age group) qualified for the main round.
