Jamshedpur, July 31: Now or never.

That was the buzzword during a coaches’ clinic conducted by Victor Stanculescu, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) instructor, at the VIP lounge of the JRD Tata Sports Complex this afternoon.

Stanculescu, who is in the city to draw up a plan to boost soccer in the country, took some time off from his busy schedule to give a tip or two to coaches of various sports.

Being a sports psychologist, Stanculescu spent time explaining the co-ordination of the mind and the body. “You cannot make a champion without a master coach. Coaches have an important role to play. But there should be a system and a professional touch attached to your method of coaching,” he added.

He told the coaches that they were not here to participate in a competition as all were sailing in the same boat.

“We use only 5 per cent of our brain and the rest 95 per cent is kept empty. There is much scope for improvement if the coaching and training method was applied in a proper way.” Stanculescu said.

He added that a coach should be perfect in his work and should be able to spot talents with ease. “Do things on your own. The most important thing is how you approach your work. Be positive and hard working,” Stanculescu said.

He based his teachings on six aspects, including perfection, discovery of talents in the different age groups, training facilities and professionalism in lifestyle.

Stanculescu also asked the coaches to give points to each and every aspects which he has explained to them.

The AFC instructor based his teaching on the three-dimensional system, which includes art, science and business.
