Jamshedpur, Aug. 8: The Bhagvad Gita classes, exhibitions, a meditation room and short movies on worship. The Bhuvaneshwari Temple is all set to teach spiritualism in the new age method.

“We want people to be able to relate with the nuances of everyday spirituality,” temple authorities at the Bhuvaneshwari Temple said.

Aimed at facilitating devotees with an enriching spiritual experience, the authorities will make short movies on the significance of temple worship.

Regular exhibitions in the main temple will also be held and the authorities plan to add a few more artistic creations, which would bring out the flavour of Kerala and also showcase the diversity present in religious implications of Hinduism.

“Temple worship is considered to be a theoretical concept, people visit temples just for the sake of it. Our endeavour is to ensure that people know its practical applications,” said Govind Rajan, the Chief of Priests and Religious Affairs at Bhuvaneshwari temple. “A plethora of programmes is in the pipeline and would begin in a couple of months,” temple authorities said.

Religious leaders from South Indian cities would share their knowledge with the people. A meditation hall is also on the cards.

“We have enough vacant space within the temple premises to accommodate a meditation hall. This would prove to be a boon for the devotees. Here they could disconnect with their social concerns and get some peace of mind,” added Rajan.

Emphasising the need to get to the roots of every spiritual exercise, the temple plans to start with the first-of-its-kind The Bhagvad Gita chanting classes.

The reason behind this innovative measure is to inculcate among its devotees, the application of these religious texts in everyday life.

“There is a great need to understand the practical applications of these scriptures. They are certainly not meant for theoretical purposes only,” added Rajan.

These once-in-a-week classes would see experts from outside share their expertise with people.

“Our plans to start a Vedic school got shelved due to unavoidable circumstances but we are constantly working in this direction. We will begin this project soon,” said Rajan.
