Sri Kumar Mukherjee (38), who teaches in Class XI and Class XII, has bagged the Rank and Bold award organised by Air India in which one teacher is selected from each state every year. Mukherjee received the letter of confirmation on September 18. He is a PhD in sociology on human resource development from Ranchi University.
The award comprises certificates, which will be sent by e-mail. The viva voce for the award was held in the city on September 4, where 100 persons took part from across the state.
“For others, the examination lasted barely five to 10 minutes, but my viva voce continued for 40 minutes. The board comprised people from the media, education department and also Air India officials,” Mukherjee said.
The questions were based on techniques of teaching, scientific awareness on the subject, environment awareness, ways to make teaching fun for students, value education, conserving flora and fauna among others.
During the course of the interview, Mukherjee presented a book on social science he has written. He also gave an audio-visual presentation on meditation and stress management.
“I feel elated as my work has received due recognition. While teaching in class, I try to develop a good rapport with all students besides focussing on the application of science in daily life,” Mukherjee added.
“I try to maintain an easy relation with students so that they can approach me easily to clear their doubts,” he added.
