Sustainable business policies of the Tatas in Jamshedpur will find mention in a report prepared by National Defence College (NDC), the highest seat of strategic learning for the armed forces.
A 16-member integrated analysis group (IAG) of NDC arrived in Jamshedpur on Wednesday for a day-long study tour of the industrial township.
According to Major General S. K. Saini, the group leader of the IAG team visiting Jharkhand, they were all impressed with the Tata family's business growth and sustainability for more than a century by incorporating environment and people-friendly policies.
"We are certainly impressed by the sustainability of a family-based business of the Tatas, weathering all storms and incorporating environment and people-friendly policies while keeping track of business interests and yet retaining the vision of its founder (JN Tata). We will be mentioning Tata's role in our report which would be submitted to the defence ministry and also the Jharkhand government," he said.
The army officer said their study tour was part of a one-year course to study socio-political scenarios of various parts of the country and its impact on the people.
The NDC team which landed at Sonari Aerodrome at 12.30pm visited Tata Motors plant (Telco), Centre for Excellence (Northern Town) where it learnt about the history of Tata Steel and its various landmarks, XLRI- Jamshedpur (Circuit House) and Tribal Culture Center (Sonari) where they learned about the company's role in preserving the social and culture heritage of tribals.
