Jamshedpur, Nov. 30: In 1996, Rajendra Inter-school Quiz Contest started merely as a part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the institution.
Ten years later, it is the most sought-after quiz contest in town.
The tenth edition of the contest saw teams from 21 schools vying for the title. Loyola School’s Sandipan Roy and Utsav Kumar walked away with the rolling shield, having scored 90 marks.
Little Flower School represented by Pranjal Kishore and Nitish Ranjan finished second.
Hosts Rajendra Vidyalaya, however, had to be satisfied with the third position.
But bagging the top slots was no cakewalk. The honours came after a gruelling written preliminary round and eight rounds during the grand finale.
The preliminary round helped students ease the tension. But with every passing moment, the steel determination to do well in the contest grew among the participants.
From simple questions to some mind-boggling queries picked from the world of media, entertainment and sports, the quiz-master did his best to capture the mood of the participants.
Some other interesting rounds held during the quiz were rapid fire Indian quiz, clue and the last music round titled “Dhamaka”.
Quiz-master Sanjay, senior manager, estate division, Jusco kept his audience glued to his words.
He retained the serious note of the quiz but made it interesting with questions like what was Madhubala and Meena Kumari’s first film.
The organisers were naturally happy with the success of the competition.
“This quiz is a prelude to our annual celebration of Rajendra Prasad’s birth anniversary on December 3,” said Dilip Kumar Dey, co-ordinator and a senior teacher of Rajendra Vidyalya.
