Ranchi, Nov. 28: Around 200 members of ABVP today protested in front of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) office on Circular Road in Ranchi against the inclusion of Chotanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Acts in general studies (GS) paper for their preliminary examinations.
They also demanded that the JPSC should extend the date of the sixth civil services preliminary examination, scheduled on December 18.
There are two compulsory papers for the prelims, GS-I (200 marks) and GS-II (200). The students said the JPSC had revised the syllabus of GS-II in October that included certain topics like the CNT and SPT Acts, for which study material was not available.
"It included the CNT and SPT Acts, in which amendments have been proposed. When veteran politicians and bureaucrats don't have complete knowledge about the Acts, the JPSC expects us to answer questions related to them," said state deputy organisational secretary of ABVP Atal Pandey.
An aspirant Swati Singh said freshers didn't have much time to prepare.
After protesting for around 90 minutes from 11am, the students met the JPSC officials who assured them of conveying their concerns to the higher authorities.
JPSC secretary Manoj Kumar Jha said JPSC didn't prepare the syllabus. "The personnel, administrative reforms and rajbhasha department prepared it. The new syllabus was uploaded on JPSC website on October 3. Students have been given enough time to prepare," Jha argued.
As many as 1.18 lakh students will appear in the exams.
