Jamshedpur, Oct. 14: Jharkhand State Cricket Association today named the state Under-19 team for Vinoo Mankad Trophy that will be played from October 22 in Bengal.
The 15-member team selected, which will be led by Ranchi wicket keeper Pappu Kumar Singh, includes a talented bunch of youngsters who are expected to get the state team to qualify for the knock-out stages this year.
Vishal Singh, Babul, Deobrat (vice-captain), Ajatshatru, Ashish Yadav, Rohit Raj, Ashwini Kumar, Prakash Seet, Dominic Rex, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Kundan Singh, Hasnain Akhtar, Ibney Hassan Khan and Kaushal Singh apart from Pappu Kumar Singh are the players who made the cut.
The team was named based on the player’s forms.
The players selected have been part of ongoing tournaments of the state cricket association and are in good shape.
“We tried to pick a balanced squad who can deliver the goods for us this tournament.
The selected cricketers will report on October 15 at the JSCA office,” a JSCA official said adding the team members will go through their paces at a short camp before they head for the tournament venue.
The likes of off-spinner and former state Under-19 captain Kundan Singh, batsman Ibney Hassan Khan and spinner Ajatshatru and left arm spinner Dominic Rex who has been in good wicket taking form are expected to come good in the tournament.
“We don’t have injury worries and the players are in fine fettle. We have high hopes from the players,” the official added.
