Ranchi, Sept. 29: The state government has sounded a high alert and cancelled leave of all officials to ensure peace and harmony tomorrow, when the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court delivers its verdict in the controversial Ayodhya title suit.
Several political parties have also asked their leaders and cadres to remain vigilant to prevent flare-ups in sensitive pockets.
Soon after landing at Birsa Munda Airport this afternoon, chief minister Arjun Munda rushed to his office at Project Building to take stock of tomorrow’s preparations.
He met senior police officers and reviewed the general law and order situation. In the evening, he met Governor M.O.H. Farook and apprised him of steps being taken by the government to ensure peace and unity tomorrow.

“I sincerely appeal to the people of this state to be patient and see that the country’s social fabric is not ruined. The generosity of our society is acknowledged all over the world. The administration will do its job. Some people may try to create disturbance. Their nefarious designs will be foiled by the people living in this state,” Munda said.
A communiqué from Raj Bhavan said Munda paid a courtesy visit. He apprised the governor of the general law and order situation and steps being taken for smooth execution of welfare and development schemes. Drought relief also prominently figured during the discussion.
Parties have, meanwhile, directed senior leaders to be present in vulnerable areas and help the local administration maintain social harmony.
“Whatever be the verdict, it can be challenged in Supreme Court. The high court’s verdict should not be seen as victory or defeat for a particular community. People ought to shoulder their social responsibilities. I have directed all my MLAs to be present in their respective Assembly constituencies tomorrow,” said JMM supremo Shibu Soren.
Senior Congress leader and Union minister for food-processing Subodh Kant Sahay said the order should not unnerve anybody. He advised the masses not to pay heed to rumours being spread by some unscrupulous elements.
“We have directed our cadres to work actively for social unity. The Congress will keep an eye on trouble-mongers with the help of responsible citizens. It will set an example in social harmony,” he added.
State BJP chief Dineshanand Goswami too appealed for peace while state RJD president Girinath Singh vouched for his party’s will to protect secular values.
