Ranchi, June 5: Political leaders of the state might have a better future if they visit the Nakshatra Van inaugurated today by Governor M. Rama Jois. The astrophysics concept used in the park is the brainchild of the Governor and it is the second in the country after Bangalore.

At a first glance, the park appears confusing with trees planted in separate rows. However, the trees signify the nakshatras (stars) along the path of the rising and the setting sun.

The trees in a particular row denote a nakshatra and a person ailing from a particular disease will get cured if he stands in the shadow of the tree. The moon takes 27 days to orbit around the earth and the sky is divided into equal parts according to its movement. The transit of the moon through these parts signifies the nakshatras affecting human behaviour.

“The entire data of a year’s sunrise and sunset along with the altitude of the city was taken into account and calculated by experts to design the rows according to the position of the rays of the rising and the setting sun. The slightest of error in calculation will not have the desired effect,’’ said a Raj Bhavan official. On the eastern side, a jackfruit tree has been planted in the Utrashad nakshatra while Ashok saplings have been planted in the Purvashad nakshatra. Saplings of shammi and neem have been sown in Ghaichta and Uttarabhandra nakshatras. The shadow of these trees will cure a person suffering from mental stress.
