Ranchi, Aug. 18: Medi-Drip Carriers, a Calcutta-based transport company, is going to run Volvo luxury buses between Calcutta and different destinations in Jharkhand.
The company will launch its commercial services between Calcutta-Dhanbad-Bokaro on Sunday and Calcutta-Jamshedpur-Ranchi by the end of this month.
The fare for Calcutta-Ranchi is Rs 645, while for Calcutta-Bokaro it is Rs 550. The buses will have 12 executive seats each that will cost additional Rs 100. Volvo bus service between Ranchi-Bokaro-Dhanbad and Ranchi-Siliguri is also in the pipeline.
The modern Rs 75-lakh Volvo Swedish bus, which has climate control, besides 45 plush seats, will leave Calcutta at 6 am and reach Jamshedpur at 10 and Ranchi at 12.30. The fare for Calcutta-Jamshedpur is Rs 425 and Jamshedpur-Ranchi is Rs 370. On its return journey, the bus will leave Ranchi at 4 pm and reach Calcutta at 10.40 pm.
The exact date of launching the Calcutta-Ranchi bus will be announced by Monday.
The Bokaro-Calcutta bus will originate at 4.50 am and reach its destination at 10 am. The fare between Bokaro and Dhanbad will be Rs 200. During the return journey, it will leave Calcutta at 5.30 pm and reach Bokaro at 11 pm. It will run via Dhanbad, Asansol, Raniganj, Durgapur and Burdwan, said Medi-Drip general manager, sales, K.G.
