Dhanbad/Ranchi: Preparations are on in full swing at Pustakalaya Maidan in Sector V of Bokaro that will host the third phase of the groundbreaking ceremony on December 20 as part of the execution of MoUs signed during the Global Investors' Summit in February.
Bokaro DC Rai Mahimapat Ray on Thursday held a meeting with the officers of Bokaro Industrial Areas Development Authority (Biada), which is organising the event. He also inspected the venue and asked officials to put up banners and posters at different places of the district.
"We were instructed to ensure the presence of all invitees, including the representatives of industry associations, at the event," Ranjit Kumar Singh, assistant development officer of Biada, said.
Officials also visited Dhanbad in the afternoon to meet office bearers of Jharkhand Industries and trade Association and Federation of Dhanbad Zila Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Industry department director Ravi Kumar, who arrived in Bokaro on Wednesday, directed officials to make seating arrangements for at least 2,000 people and ensure hassle-free parking.
Chief minister Raghubar Das will lay the foundation stones of over 80 projects worth nearly Rs 3,000 crore at the ceremony.
"We target to execute projects worth nearly Rs 3,000 crore. We are hoping to kick-start over 80 projects during the function. We are committed to ensuring that bulk of the MoUs signed during Momentum Jharkhand are executed at the earliest and prove to the investors that the state is an attractive destination," Kumar had said in Ranchi last week.
Sources in the industry department said two major projects worth Rs 200 crore each in the petroleum sector would be the high point of the ceremony.
"The foundation stone for a gas bottling plant of BPCL worth Rs 200 crore will come up at Balidih Industrial Area phase I on nearly 20 acres. ONGC will start the country's biggest coal bed methane project on 13 acres in Balidih phase IV at an investment of Rs 200 crore," the source said on the condition of anonymity.
According to the source, textile, food processing, metal processing, manufacturing, education and healthcare sectors will attract major investments. "However, none of the Union ministers will be able to attend the function because the Lok Sabha session will be in progress (December 15-January 4)," the source said.
A total of 210 MoUs promising investments of around Rs 3.1 lakh crore were signed at the GIS in February.
The state government had divided the MoUs into short term (projects whose foundation stones will be laid within a year) and long term (to be executed in more than two years) categories.
