Jamshedpur, July 27: Sinimole Paulose, a cadet of Tata Athletics Academy, timed 2:05:76 to bag the silver in the 800m sprint at the Senior Asian Athletics Championships being held in Amman, Jordan.
After this performance, which has left officials of Tata Steel Sports Department gushing about her, focus is now on the 1,500m, scheduled to be held on July 29.
The Tata Steel sports officials are hopeful of a gold from her at this event after the way she competed with top Asian athletes.
“She has had an exceptionally good year. She has been consistent in all the championships and is brimming with confidence. Hope that pays off in the 1,500m sprint,” said her coach Satnam Singh.
Her brilliant performance throughout the year can be judged by the fact that she raced to a hat-trick in podium-finish in the third leg of the Asian Grand Prix athletic championship in Pune in June. She clinched the 1,500m top slot three times in succession. She had already clinched the top slots in the last two legs of the Grand Prix earlier, which took place in Bangkok and Guwahati in June.
It has been a steady progress for Sinimole, who came here from Pampakoda village of Ernakulam district of Kerala in 2004. The rising athlete on the national horizon also bagged a bronze in the Doha Asian Games last year.
