| Shulo Pahan at Rims |
Ranchi, June 20: Admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) three days ago, Shulo Pahan, who lost her mother and sustained head injuries in the Angarha bus accident, suffers in silence.
Twenty-three people died in the accident and at least 40 sustained injuries. Admitted to the institute’s neurosurgery ward, till last evening Shulo had been telling everyone that she wanted to meet her brother. Today, her face was swollen and she could not open her eyes and it looked as if the girl was in pain.
The district officials, who visited the hospital yesterday to distribute money among the injured, had promised that they would look for the girl’s relatives. But they were nowhere to be seen today. If anyone asked her how she felt, she turned her face away and did not say a word. The girl was lying on bed number 19 and doctors said her condition was stable.
A nurse attending on Shulo said: “No one from her family has come here so far. Perhaps the officials could not trace her family members. She has not spoken a word today. She only follows our instructions.”
“Shulo does not have clothes. She has been in this condition for three days now. So many people have made promises. All the injured got Rs 2,000 from the officials but Shulo has been left out,” said an attendant.
