| Priya Gill: Troubling time |
Ranchi, Aug. 30: Actress Priya Grill, along with others, has been slapped a showcause notice for participating in a Bhojpuri function on Ranchi Zilla School without the permission of the district administration.
Subdivisional officer Badri Nath Chaubey served the notice. If proven guilty, the accused will have an imprisonment of up to six months.
The cultural programme, organised by Bhojpuri Samaj and Sankalp Parivar, was attended by forest minister Harinarayan Rai and Ranchi BJP MLA C.P. Singh.
Besides Gill, actor Akhilesh Pandey, singer Bharat Vyas, singer Devi, Ali Khan, Uday Sahu, Chandramohan Kapur, Rishi Prakash Mishra, B.M. Tiwari and Punam have also been served the showcause notice.
“We slapped the notice on both artistes and organisers since ignorance of law is not an excuse,” Choubey said.
The accused have been given time till September 12 to reply, he said. The organisers took the district administration for granted and did not even care to take an approval, Chaubey said.
Let alone the permission from the district administration, the organisers did not take the sanction from the human resource development department. So the department has also served a notice on the Zilla School principal.
Actress Priya Gill could not be contacted as she has already left for Mumbai.
