Ranchi, Sept. 30: A maroon and cream sherwani designed by students of the International Institute of Creative Courses (IICC) awaits Dhoni when he returns home in the last week of October.
Embellished with sequins, appliqué work and zardozi, the sherwani, which costs Rs 11, 500, is designed by second-year fashion designing student Prapreet Kaur, who took 15 days to complete the outfit.
Kaur’s creation was displayed on the second day of the exhibition-cum-sale at the institute. She seemed excited about gifting an outfit to Dhoni. “It will be a big opportunity for students to gift Mahi the sherwani. Our faculty members have helped us create the outfit,” Kaur said.
The display of lehengas, sarees and suits embellished with stones in green, black, maroon and red kept the ladies busy.
Designer jewellery, both for bridal and casual wear, were priced at Rs 1,499. Mamta Barnawal, a student used red and white stones to embellish her jewellery.
Chayya Rani, an interior designing student had created the model of a multiplex using thermocol. “I have tried to incorporate all facilities like a shopping complex, a playground for kids, a restaurant and cinema halls, among others,” said Rani, who hopes to shift base to Delhi after the course.
Ragni Kumari and Talat Shaheen, both fashion design students, designed a black lehenga priced at Rs 1,500. Ali Abbas, another fashion design student had incorporated a fish cut with machine embroidery in his lehenga creation.
Mona Singh, one of the visitors at the exhibition, picked up many chiffon sarees. “The stone work on black sarees is really pretty. I am shopping for the pujas,” said Singh.
Director of IICC M. Alam said such an exhibition makes people aware as to what the students have really learnt. It also boosts their confidence level, he added.
