Bokaro, May 11: Dreaded criminal Dhoomal Singh today allegedly threatened a deputy superintendent of police daring him to arrest the criminal-turned-politician.

The Bokaro police have sought the much-awaited arrest warrant against Baniapur (Bihar) legislator Dhoomal Singh in three different cases.

Police sources said the gangster warned the cop to stay way from the case “as no police official, including Anil Palta, could touch him and he would surrender only when he felt like doing so.”

He said none of the state governments, either Bihar or Jharkhand, had the courage to lay their hands on him. “Do not ever think of putting hands on my collar as even the chief ministers know me personally and whoever tries to do so will pay a very heavy price,’’ warned the absconding don.

However, a local scrap trader, S.N. Singh, has filed a case against Dhoomal at the city police station alleging extortion bids by him. Dhoomal was apparently demanding Rs 10 lakh from the trader.

In his written complaint, the trader said he had been receiving ransom calls for the past two weeks and was threatened that if the money was not paid on time, he would be lynched.

Dhoomal Singh, Ashok Singh, Ashok Rai and Guddu Rai were named the main accused in the case and the police are investigating it.

The police received a shot in the arm after ace shooter of Dhoomal Singh gang Guddu Rai, an absconder from Gopalganj jail, was arrested in Lucknow yesterday. Today, a police team led by sub-inspector of Pindrajore (Bokaro) police station left for Lucknow to identify Guddu Rai. Sources added that Dhoomal confirmed the arrest himself. Superintendent of Bokaro police Raj Kumar Mallick told The Telegraph that the law would take its own course and he would not allow Dhoomal to do whatever he wanted in this district.
