Ranchi, May 23: The results of ICSE board examinations are out, but the competition has just begun.
With most schools declaring steep cut-off marks for admission, including provisional ones, to Class XI, the battle for seats at prestigious institutions is getting hotter.
For direct admission in science stream, 90 per cent is the cut-off for CBSE-board cradles such as Delhi Public School (DPS), Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM), Shyamali, and DAV group of schools. For admission in commerce stream, the cut-off is between 75-80 per cent.
More than 2,000 application forms costing Rs 400 each have been sold at JVM, Shyamali, far. Around 1,500 forms at DPS, costing Rs 500 each, will be sold till May 26.
“We accept provisional mark sheets or printouts downloaded from the Internet attested by the authorities. We are giving out forms to anyone who has scored above 75 per cent. But for direct admissions, the science students must score a minimum of 90 per cent while commerce students need 80 per cent and above,” said DPS principal J. Mohanty.
List of students other than those eligible for direct admissions will be displayed on the school notice board once CBSE Class X results are out.
For admission to St Thomas School, Dhurwa, the forms for science stream will be sold till May 25 at Rs 350. The school, which is starting its Plus Two section from this academic session, has 40 seats in the science stream and will take in students after a scrutiny of marks in the admission test and board.
In St Xavier’s School, for admissions in science, a candidate has to score above 80 per cent, while 70 per cent is the cut-off for commerce.
Surendranath Centenary School principal Samita Sinha said they would decide on the cut-off and start distributing forms at Rs 500 each after the declaration of CBSE Class X board results. CBSE affiliated Oxford Public school will conduct admission tests on June 2, with Rs 300 as the cost of its application form.
DAV group of schools is directly admitting those who have scored above 90 per cent to science stream. The cut-off for commerce is 75 per cent. Its forms are being sold at Rs 500 each. Those who have scored less will appear for the admission test on May 26.
“We are giving forms for science stream to those who scored above 80 per cent,” said principal of DAV Kapil Dev, M.K. Sinha. So far the school has sold 1,800 forms.
