A special state-level workshop-cum-seminar will be organised by the art, culture, sports and youth affairs department at Hotwar’s state museum in Ranchi on October 14 to sensitise schoolteachers, postgraduate students and research scholars about Jharkhand’s archaeological heritage.
“The daylong workshop is open for both government and private schoolteachers, students pursuing their post-graduation in archaeology, history and related subjects, as well as research scholars. The idea is to engage stakeholders in the state’s archaeological heritage,” said museum curator Md Sarfuddin.
Prospective participants can prepare their papers or presentations — LCD projector facility is available — in Hindi or English. Each participant will get between five to 15 minutes to present papers.
At the most, five teachers from each school will be allowed to participate in the conference, registration for which will be held on the morning of October 14. Interested teachers, students and research scholars may send their details latest by October 10 via e-mail to statemuseumranchi2011@gmail.com.
All participants will get certificates from the art, culture, sports and youth affairs department. The articles will also find space in the department’s publications as well.
“The event will wind up with ghazals. After a day of brainstorming and erudite discussions, we thought participants and distinguished guests will enjoy a ghazal evening,” added curator Sarfuddin.
The state museum, spread over a sprawling campus near Khelgaon — as the National Games Housing Complex — has infrastructure such as galleries for Jharkhand’s ethnological artefacts, sculpture, pottery and paintings, a library and an auditorium, among others.
