Rush of talent at IIM-Ranchi

Budding managers and technocrats showcased their talent at Rush, a sports and cultural fest organised by IIM-Ranchi at the Hotwar mega sports complex here.

Ranchi: Budding managers and technocrats showcased their talent at Rush, a sports and cultural fest organised by IIM-Ranchi at the Hotwar mega sports complex here.

Over 1,500 students from 12 management and engineering institutes from the city and outside took part in the two-day extravaganza which concluded on Sunday.

The events included athletics, football, basketball, cricket, chess, carom, throw ball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, singing, dancing and fashion show, band display, radio jockey, live photography, face painting and street play, among others.

The institutions that took part were IIM-Sambalpur, IIM-Bodh Gaya, XLRI Jamshedpur, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, St Xavier's College, Ranchi, IIM-Raipur, Amity University and the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ).

"Host IIM-Ranchi emerged as champions in carom, chess and table tennis while CUJ was the cricket champion. St Xavier's College won the trophy in band display competition," Ashutosh Kumar, public relation officer of Rush, said.

Parimal Kumar, a BIT-Sindri student who participated in solo singing competition, said the event benefited him a lot. "Apart from all the fun, the fest helped me learn managerial skills which is a must for any engineer. It also gave me an opportunity to express myself," Kumar said.
