Dhanbad, Feb. 8: The district administration is all set to crack down on private schools that are violating the Right To Education (RTE) norms.

Deputy commissioner Prashant Kumar today asked all schools in Dhanbad to get themselves registered with the authorities concerned.

Also, he directed education department officials to set up RTE cells at block and district levels to keep a tab on the cradles. Kumar gave the orders during a tripartite meeting of private school operators, members of Dhanbad Abhibhawak Manch — a forum of guardians — and district officials at his office.

Further, he asked schools to submit financial statements, comprising details of profits and losses made in the past three years, within February 15. Subsequently, a committee headed by the DC will examine the records.

“Under the RTE, every school must admit 25 per cent of the total number of seats from the weaker section of society. Also, all schools have been asked to maintain transparency in their admission procedure. The district administration will keep close tabs,” district education superintendent B.B. Singh told The Telegraph after the meeting.
