Ranchi, Aug.4: What do you call politicians who are extremely presentable? What is the name of the car-maker that first introduced the rollover protection system safety measure in four-wheelers in India or the popular brand created by Indo-National Limited?
If you said Sexocrat as the answer to the first question or managed to identify Volvo as the installer of the rollover protection system or knew Indo-National Limited created Nippo, then you would have stood a good chance at the ninth Tata Crucible Business Quiz, the Ranchi leg of which kicked-off at a city hotel today.
The quiz saw an initial participation of 18 teams from various corporate houses, of which 12 were eliminated after a written round.
The remaining six — two from Rourkela Steel Plant and one each from Bokaro Steel, Patna’s ITC Limited, Ranchi’s Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and ZTE telecom, Ranchi-Patna — fought it out for the regional championship crown in five rounds.
Quizmaster Giri “Pickbrain” Balasubramaniam, kept tickling the grey cells of the contestants with a mixed bag of questions and audio-visuals.
Going in to the final rapid fire round, the SAIL team from Ranchi led the points table and were favourites to win the contest. However, some quick finger work and smart answers saw a Rourkela Steel Plant team snatching the lead from SAIL and walking home the winners.
Additional DGP Rezi Dungdung awarded Rs 75,000 in cash for their performance to the Rourkela team, comprising Sudhangshu Sekhar Panda and Sampad Mishra.
The SAIL team of Shrikant Kumar Mallick and Siddharth Sekhar Das finished second and were given Rs 35,000 as prize money.
The Jamshedpur leg of the event will kick off from tomorrow and will see participation from various Tata group companies.
