Ranchi: A group of music lovers is all set to organise a rock music concert next month.

Titled Thunderstrock, the concert will be held on the premises of St Francis School in Harmu on September 23

The group, which also comprises members of city-based band Highway 69, will donate the proceeds of the concert to charity.

"We certainly love rock music and want to encourage its growth in Jharkhand. But our main aim behind organising the concert is to reach out to different social outfits," said Tarang Kerketta, one of the organisers, adding this year they would donate the profit to Harmu Football Academy where tribal boys and girls learn to play football.

The group is organising the concert for the fourth year. "We had earlier organised similar concerts in 2009, 2010 and 2014. In 2010 we had donated Rs 25,000 to YUWA, a football academy in Ormanjhi," added Kerketta.

Besides Highway 69, other bands who will perform at the upcoming concert are Genesis and Astitwa from Ranchi and Wat Escapes Me from Calcutta.

In 2008 the group had organised a concert to raise funds for Jharkhand Rock Music Association. While three local bands -Hypnotize, Kaos and Sparsh - performed in 2010, the number doubled in 2014.

"We had to discontinue in between as some of our members had relocated outside the state. But this time we are back with a bang," said Kerketta.
