Ranchi, July 22: Few perhaps, know that the calorie intake of five pieces of almonds and poha is 100, while one sweet consists of more than 100 calorie. Orss the morning breakfast should range between 700-800 calories.
More such startling facts and figures were mentioned at a daylong fitness freak session for the members of Ranchi Gymkhana Club today. The members were seen eating food items with less calories.
Around 60 members took part in the session wherein a three-member panel apprised them about the exercise according to the weight and heart beat. The member’s blood pressure, height and weight were also taken into account. Taking part at the session, the secretary of the club, Sushil Lohia, said: “We don’t take much care of our health, which later culminates into various types of diseases. Hence, timely advice about the food intake helps people like us to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
Another member L.B. Bansal, said: “For the first time, this type of fitness session was organised for members. Due to our hectic schedule, it has become difficult to visit a dietician. The session provided us opportunity to strike a balanced diet with proper food.”
K.K. Singh, physical instructor, dwelt on the exercise details. “Before exercising, one should warm up. After 40 years, a person should not do any weight exercise, rather muscle-building exercise would be helpful at that age,” he added.
