Ranchi: The 16-year-old tribal girl from Gumla, who was rescued from Gurgaon and brought to Ranchi on Sunday, was examined by doctors at Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (Rinpas) on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Rinpas consultant neuropsychiatrist Dr Siddhartha Sinha examined the girl, who was accompanied by her mother, for around three hours. The doctor noted that she was suffering from severe pre and post delivery trauma that had rendered her speechless for the past three months.
"She is in a state of deep trauma and abundance of emotional turmoil. Her recovery will take time," said Dr Sinha.
"We have advised regular psychiatric consultancy and rest besides medication. Right now she is not cooperating. She did not speak but was crying continuously. The one good thing is that her family is ready to accept her. Such victims require care. She has undergone extreme torture, something we can't imagine," he added.
The girl was trafficked in November 16 to Gurgaon where she was working as full-time domestic worker. She was raped by the cook of her employer and she delivered a baby girl on May 31 this year.
Sinha said that girl could go home and stay with her family. But chairperson of Jharkhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Arti Kujur, who is supervising her treatment and rehabilitation, said that they would like to keep her in Ranchi for some days.
"SCPCR is worried about her treatment and rehabilitation. I have requested time from the office of the chief minister so that he can meet the girl and do what is needed for her," Kujur said, adding that her rapist was under judicial custody in Gurgaon.
"I request the state government to discuss the matter with the Haryana government for speedy investigation and trial," she added.
