A dark sky cloaks the JSCA stadium in Dhurwa, Ranchi, on Friday ahead of Saturday’s India-Australia T20 match

The landmark JSCA International Stadium Complex in Dhurwa, Ranchi, is all set to host on Saturday the first tie of the three-match T20 series between India and Australia, but the weather god is planning to play spoilsport. The Met office has predicted several interruptions during the game as an overcast sky since Friday morning triggered showers by afternoon, restricting both team practice at the nets and indoor training. The stadium, which has a capacity of 38,000, is expected to go houseful with all tickets being sold out. Here’s what you must know before heading to Dhurwa

Parking: vehicles with VIP passes shall be allowed entry through an exclusive gate near the North Gate. Ground beside St Thomas School in Sector-III, Dhurwa, has been earmarked for spectators bound for North, Southeast and South gates. Ground north of the stadium can be used by vehicles entering through North Gate alone. Ground near Balmiki Ashram for those taking the West Gate

Commute options: JSCA will offer shuttle service from near St Thomas School after the end of the match. Auto-rickshaws will be available.

Eye on sky: R.S. Sharma, meteorologist at the IMD office in Ranchi, said bouts of showers were expected from afternoon. “There is an upper-air cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal, which is triggering rain
in Jharkhand. Ranchi and its adjoining areas are likely to witnesses light to moderate rainfall for the next two-three days. Expect interruptions during the game although there is no threat of a washout as of now,” he said.
