Jamshedpur: The steel city will soon don the look of Bengal's Santiniketan as it gears up to celebrate Poush Parbon with soulful music, yummy treats and unlimited adda.
The Milanee in Bistupur will organise Poush Mela on Sunday. "This is our small effort to uphold the tradition of Bengal," said Raju Datta, secretary of The Milanee.
While stalls selling pithe, payesh, puli and other traditional sweet dishes will be up for grabs, visitors will also be able to purchase ethnic saris and salwar suits at other kiosks. Calcutta-based singers of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma Pa Bangla fame Sourav Das and Debarati Dasgupta will keep the visitors entertained.
Sabuj Kalyan Sangha in Telco will also organise Poush Mela on January 6 and 7 at Sabuj Kalyan grounds.
For the foodies there will be stalls selling traditional Bengali delicacies along with Chinese, Indian and continental cuisine. Calcutta-based band Aarshinagar will perform on the inaugural day and Krishna Das Baul and Calcutta-based singers Sohini Banerjee and Anjan Das on the second day. The fair will have stalls selling boutique saris and various contests.
